Norfolk status Common. Open ground, hillsides, waste ground and roadside verges where foodplant found.
It can be confused with other species such as A. propinquella, and indistinct forms are best identified by dissection.
The distinctive form that also occurs, f. rhodochrella has a darker head and thorax, and more distinct wing markings.
